Loaf helps you and the people who look after your baby keep one shared log. This page explains what that involves, in plain words.

The short version

  • No ads. No analytics or tracking tools. We don't sell or rent your data, and never will.
  • Only the caregivers you invite can see your family's log.
  • You can export everything, or delete your account and data, at any time.

What we store

  • Your account: on iPhone you can start without an account; we create an anonymous ID for you. If you back up with Apple, we store only the ID Apple gives us for you, not your name or email address. On the web you sign in with an email link (we store your email address) or with Google (Google shares your name, email address and profile photo link). We also store the name you choose to show your family.
  • Your family: its name, your baby's name and any birth date you enter (an import can also add a due date and sex), your measurement units, and who the caregivers are and when they joined.
  • Your log: the feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, medications, temperatures, growth, solids and notes you enter, with the details you add (like a formula name or a diaper's color), the time zone, and which caregiver logged or last changed each entry and when. A deleted entry disappears for everyone straight away and is erased for good when the family is deleted.
  • Invites: who created each invite, any name you type for the person, and who used it and when.
  • Imports: when you import a file from another tracker, it's sent to our server to be read. We save the entries from it (including the caregiver names in the file) and don't keep the file itself. Our server logs record that an import happened and how many entries it had, not what was in them.

Where it's stored

Your data is stored with Google Firebase, our hosting provider, in the United States (the multi-region location "nam5"). Google processes it on our behalf only to run Loaf. Sign-in emails are sent through Firebase.

Your phone or browser also keeps an offline copy of your family's log, so Loaf works without a connection. On the web it keeps a few small preferences too (like which child you last looked at). Signing out on the web clears both from that browser; close any other Loaf tabs first.

Who can see your data

Everyone in your family can see and edit the family's log: you, and each caregiver you invite. Your name is shown on the entries you log. An invite link works once and expires after 14 days, so send it only to the person it's for. We don't share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

Your choices

  • Export: download all your entries as a CSV file any time. iPhone: Settings → Export as CSV. Web: Settings → Export all entries (CSV).
  • Delete: delete your account in the iPhone app (Settings → Delete account) or on the web (Settings → Delete account). Families where you're the only member are deleted with all their entries. Families you share stay with the other caregivers, including the entries you logged (with your name on them), and you're removed from them. Your sign-in is deleted too.

Children

Loaf is for parents and caregivers. The information about a baby is entered by the adults who look after them.
